SEBC to Support Lattakia Port, Museum Directorate/ Syria Report 9-4-2012
Syria Report, aliqtisadi, Syria steps, Syrian days

The Syrian Enterprise and Business Centre has announced the signing of two agreements to provide capacity building and other advisory services to the Port of Lattakia and the government’s Museum Directorate.

SEBC, an independent body that acts as an implementation agency for locally and internationally-funded projects, said that the contract with the Port of Lattakia provides for the supply of training and consulting services, in addition to drafts and proposals to simplify the procedures at the port. The objective is to take “advantage of the strategic location of the port and ( … ) increase the volume of trade exchange between Syria and other countries.”

Meanwhile, SEBC will offer the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums, the national body in charge of the management of all of the country’s museums and archaeological missions, “networking and strategic partnerships, training and rehabilitation, counselling, management promotions, marketing and organizing meetings, events and exhibitions.”

Rateb Shallah, the chairman of SEBC, said that the deal with GDAM would help protect Syria’s rich heritage and “convert heritage to an economic resource.”
